The Highline179 is a pedestrian suspension bridge in the form of a rope bridge over the Fernpassstraße B 179 south of Reutte in Tyrol (Austria).
It stretches at a height of 113 to 114 m over the Ehrenberg castle world and connects the Ehrenberg ruins with Fort Claudia. The bridge’s location was chosen so that it was one of the longest pedestrian suspension bridges in the world at the time of its completion, with a span of 406 m.
It thus not only serves to make it easier to visit the two castle ruins, but is primarily intended to be a tourist attraction in its own right for the municipality of Reutte.

It takes a certain amount of courage to cross the 406-meter-long pedestrian suspension bridge at the height of 114 meters, because it looks much more harmless from below. It is, of course, well secured, but you should be reasonably free of vertigo and not afraid of great heights.
The bridge also swings back and forth slightly, and the floor is only covered with a grating, where you can see the 113m straight down.
But for a fee of €8, you get a fantastic panoramic view of the Reutte Valley basin and the surrounding mountains – a view with a kick, as the slogan promises.
The nearest train stop to Highline179 is Reutte train station (from Reutte train station there is a bus connection with a stop at Reutte Abz. Ehrenberger Klause).
