Even if the name doesn’t sound very promising – the mountain and the round tour are magnificent.
The view of the Ostallgäu Lake landscape and Neuschwanstein Castle is simply enchanting. In addition, the route shines with varied, interesting rocky terrain with crags that is not difficult for experienced hikers. Although some practice is a prerequisite, the route enjoys a certain popularity.
The striking Säuling (2047) is one of the most famous peaks in the Ammergau Alps and a real classic.
It towers high above the Ammergau lake landscape and Neuschwanstein Castle and offers a great view.
It can be climbed from two sides. The variant from the south via the Säulinghaus is an ideal stop for the ascent or descent with a great view. The trail is an easy path up to the house, and from the house on, it becomes more difficult. There are some easy climbs (I) to master, which are well-secured with ropes and chains. Nevertheless, you should be free from giddiness and sure-footed. It would help if you also were careful of loose stones. All in all, a long, varied hike with great views of the Ammergau Alps and far beyond!

In detail: In detail: A95 (Garmisch motorway) to the end of the motorway, in Oberau turn right to Ettal – Plansee – Reutte – In Reutte direction Pflach and in Pflach turn right from the main road over the railway tracks in the direction of “Säulinghaus Parkplatz” (signposted) until you reach the car park at the barrier.
